Bonnie Hanschu Will be Deeply Missed

30 July 2004 AM

I am writing to ask those of you who know and care about Bonnie Hanschu to offer up your prayers, positive vibes and/or positive energy to Bonnie in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Bonnie had a massive heart attack yesterday (7/29/04) while teaching one of her courses in Lafayette.  She is in critical condition and although she made it through the night, the prognosis is not good.

Thank you for sending your positive energy Bonnie's way.

It is with great sadness that I tell you that Bonnie passed away on Friday, July 30th at approximately 2:15 PM Central time.  The family has made no decisions about arrangements at this time.

Dear listserv members and all of you very supportive members of the Ready family,

It has taken me a while to get past being numb, but I needed to let you all know how much your e-mails and letters of support have meant to me. It has been the energy that will keep us going. I have had many inquiries about donations and wanted to let you all know that Bonnie's sister Heidi, and I have created a trust called The Ready Family Memorial Trust. Heidi asked that donations be sent in care of me. We would like to thank you in advance for your generosity.

Since Heidi left Minneapolis she is pretty overwhelmed right now taking care of Bonnie's household and her family in Phoenix. Not all of you know that there were 2 things that Bonnie had dedicated her life to. Her life changing work and her brother Lee. Because he was only a year older than Bonnie and born severely physically handicapped she dedicated a large part of her life to taking care of him. He lived with her and is doing well with his care giver Chris who had become like a son to Bonnie. There will be a lot to figure out in the future, and we will be trying to figure out all of the pieces of the puzzle.

In the meantime I will be doing the one day course I have done on my own and I will also be doing a version of Bonnie's 2 day Autism/Creating Sensory Environments course. The first one will be in Albany, New York on October 1-2. Wish me luck and all of you need to keep what you learned from Bonnie going. We all know how life changing it is.

On behalf of myself, Phyl and Bonnie's family we thank you so much.

Sincerely, Laura Barker
